St.Clement's Catholic Primary School

Year 4:  Visit to the Isle of Wight

19 - 23 June 2000

Year 4 made a residential trip to the Isle of Wight to study aspects of Victorian life as part of their Key Stage 2 work.

They set off from the school on a sunny Monday morning and returned on the Friday afternoon.

Ken, our coach driver, lived on the Isle of Wight and he accompanied us throughout the week.

This was a real adventure for the Children as many had not been away from home before, and certainly not for 4 nights.  It was an adventure for the teachers and adult helpers too, as trips of this length are normally reserved for Years 5 & 6.

It was a very busy week with a good balance bewteen work and fun.  There was no time to be homesick and all considered it to be a real success.

Once the children had written up their work a presentation was made to the children and parents in Year 3, so that they know what to expect when it is their turn next year.

You can now share some of the activities that were captured on film:

Outward Bound

Model Village, Godshill

Shanklin Chine & Beach

Robin Hill Country Park

Whippingham Church & Osborne House

Carisbrooke Castle
