Governors

School governors offer strategic guidance to their school, supporting with the development of the school’s strategic direction, ensuring money is well spent and helping drive school improvement. They are ‘critical friends’, providing support and challenge to ensure the best outcomes all pupils.

Our governors are drawn from across the school community and work in close co-operation with the leadership team under the authority of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton.

School Development Fund

We are very grateful to the families who contribute to the School Development Fund (formerly known as Governor’s Fund).

The School Development Fund has been used for various school improvement projects, for example: installing new energy efficient LED lighting across the school, replacement windows, a contribution to the new school roof, a contribution to the new playground markings, and a revamp of the mulched area in the Reception Class outside area. We also give the school an annual donation towards school resources. None of this could be achieved without the support from our school families.

As a Catholic school, St Clement’s is Voluntary Aided, which means that the school is responsible for 10% of all financial investment in the school buildings and grounds. Unfortunately, the upkeep and maintenance of our school never stops, which means that the Governors need to continue to raise funds.

Many families already make regular contributions to the School Development Fund and the Governing Body is asking parents who do not currently contribute to consider doing so. We suggest that each family makes a contribution of £10 per month, however, every contribution, no matter how small, will be gratefully received.

If you pay Income Tax, it is also possible for you to “Gift Aid” your contribution. This means that we will be able to claim back the tax you have paid on your contributions. So, for example, if you contribute £10, we can claim back an extra £2.50 from the government – at no cost to you, but at a great benefit to the school.

To make the donation process simpler, we now have a link on our website, where you can make a regular or one-off donation. Please click on the £ symbol in the top right hand corner of our website to set up your donation.

100% of the Governors Fund goes to the school and is used to benefit each and every pupil at St Clement’s.

Diversity Data

The governors of St Clement's Catholic Primary School believe it is important that committees reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve. Diverse committees promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.

The governors are currently collecting data on the diversity of the LGC, including data on age, gender and ethnicity. They will use that data to inform their recruitment and training needs and ensure there is always a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision making.

Due to our relatively small governing body we do not publish this diversity data online as individual governors could be identified and we have a legal obligation to protect their personal data.
